ANNOUNCEMENT - THE FUTURE OF OUR FORUM |

As many of you will know, BikeJohnny, who used to own the forum, lost interest in it some time ago, and left us to look after ourselves.
This was great whilst they were still picking up the bills, but last year, they wanted out.
In March 2009, Dragoneye, Flydive and myself chipped in and paid Jahlis, the company that owned BikeJohnny, to keep the forum afloat for 12 months whilst we came up with a plan.
A plan was duly hatched, and to cut a 12 month long story very short, Flydive, myself and Bishop have now purchased the domain name and the forum, and we are in the process of transferring the whole lot onto new servers.
When I say ‘we’ I really mean Bishop, who is the driving force behind the mountain of technical work that needs to be done, and is deserving of a whole heap of praise for the amount of work he is undertaking freely on our behalf.
Very soon now, all of the files will be transferred and we will be technically self sufficient from the Jahlis/BikeJohnny set up.
Sometime after that, we (Bishop) will be transferring us to a much more modern and up to date platform.
Speaking of self sufficiency, I have to raise the thorny issue of funding.
When BikeJohnny lost interest in the forum and left us to administer and moderate ourselves, we allowed anyone who wanted to advertise their products or their company, to do so free of charge.
Now that we are responsible for paying our own way, it is imperative that the forum becomes financially self sufficient too.
To this end, once we are up and running on our own servers, we will be looking to find site sponsors, but the biggest change here is that commercial adverts cannot possibly remain free.
