    Elio?

    Anyone heard of the Elio?

    http://www.eliomotors.com/

Seems interesting. 672 mile estimated range at 84mpg. $6,800. 3 airbags a reinforced roll-cage frame, Anti-Lock Braking System.

Kinda been following Elio as a relative is involved with the design software co..
If they able to produce near their $6800 target price, I'll buy one, but I'm skeptical so I won't buy in early.
    I'm rooting for them!

Definitely intriguing, but assuming that it will have a relatively, small and unresponsive (based on projected mpg) motor, I wouldn't want to put myself or others at risk in something so small out on the open road.

According to specs, 55hp motor. More than my '62 VW had stock. Shit, that's more than a Harley isn't it?

    900cc, 3 cylinder motor.

Totally practical, the vast majority of work commutes are people alone in their 5 seater car...kind of appealing for a winter vehicle instead of a bike too

Stated over 100mph top speed...not sure how long it would take to get there though, no quoted weights yet

    900cc in-line triple...could it be.....

    Interesting.
Seems like a CAN-AM Spyder for 4 seasons.
If it comes to be they will fly off the shelves at first. If not only for their collectability.

I like it more than the CAN AM.

    For $8000 vs $23000?

Corbin used to make a mini car similar, but failed.

    optimistically looking forward to launch

If they do well maybe they'll do a sports edition in future years with a turbo charger or something I would definitely be interested then...

You thinking Tiger? Could be something similar, but they are claiming it's American made. The Renault Twingo was a 900cc triple, their version had 110 horsepower and 118 pound-feet of torque and 64MPG.

I was thinking along those lines, yeah...could they have bought rights to manufacturer or even bought overseas parts and assembled in the US.

You never know, that 84mpg could be coming from an engine that could be much much more capable if tuned differently...could be an interesting thing to tinker with.
