    Awesome sounds!

There's a Aircraft heritage museum that runs regular event but especially a once a year V-twin get together (Buell based initially) which I go to if I can, motorcycles and aircraft on the same day! It's in the middle of Lincolnshire, UK: http://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/

Last year (like most years) we were treated to a Lancaster bomber giving it full beans (taxiing but no take off though, the runway isn't certified ) and also flybys by numerous planes including the local working Lancaster and Spitfire. The Lancaster has 4 of the same Merlin engines found in Spitfires I think right?

I found some Youtube vids from last years activity:

The local Lancaster that never leaves the ground, you can sit in this one

A flyby from another from a nearby RAF base with a runway that can be used...sneaky but at the end it's actually the first Lancaster that doesn't leave the ground

A B-25 and escort, also doing a flyby:

edit: Being just a youngster though, I have to admit my all time favourite aircraft ever since I sat in one in the Air Cadets at 14 yrs old is the aging Tornado:

Round engines and taildraggers have always been my favorite!
1947 Aeronca Champ, first plane I owned
1949 Cessna 195, now that's a round engine and tailwheel
1966 Citabria, for my wife to learn to fly
1957 Cessna Birddog, talk about a FUN plane to fly!
2006 Rans S7s, light sport to be on the safe side now

And yes, I have the best wife in the world! Several years ago she got me front seat time in a P-51 Mustang. The most fun I have ever had with my cloths on! 300mph strafing runs 30 feet off the deck are AWSOME!

And would this be your beloved Champ? She's a beauty!

You got "front" seat time. How the heck did you do that. My wife bought some time for me last year in a '51, but I was delegated to fly from the back seat. I'm not complaining mind you, just jealous you were able to fly from the front. A whole different perspective.
And yes, strafing runs at 250 (our speed) was very cool, along with rolls, chandels, lazy eights and that kind of stuff. Truly a wonderful day.

Those were great vids, Mark. Those old rotary piston engines always get my juices flowing! Thanks.

ah...a Cessna 195. If money wasn't an object.... Big enough for a fat boy to be comfortable.

or a Stinson Gullwing but I'd have to print my own money for that!

The amount of room is why both my buddy and I got 195's. We started with the Champs, he went to a 170 which when we flew together we still found to be awfully tight. The 195's allowed us to sit together without having to rub shoulders. Also included below is a picture that contains the Champ when we owned her as well as a picture of the Birddog. And if money were not an object, I'ld buy the P-51 in a heartbeat.
