Sounds terrific, Tom. I'm actually still a bit flabbergasted that you can ride to Europa from Britannia!

Why shouldn't he? After all, they put a nice hole in the water for that very porpoise.

Tom - I'd suggest jetting across Belgium to Aachen, on to Kerpen and then down the A61 which runs to the west of the Rhine. A lot of trucks use it. But left lane is normally free as for large portions the left lane cannot be used by trucks.

Going via Luxembourg can be a wee bit tedious.

I can't commit yet - but I've put it in my calender. I used to spend a few days "playing" between Freiburg and across to Imst in Austria pretty much every year.
A LOT of R3 owners down that way too. Worth mentioning it on R3Owners.org? Nothing like local guides.

One regional dish is the MAULTASCHE - Like monster Raviolis in soup. Portions in Schwabenland can make Bavarian meals look puny.

Thanks for that, Chris, I shall input your route into Basecamp and have a decko.

I can't get anything under R3owners.org - who are they - is that the correct web address?

It would be great if you could join us, if only for restaurant advice

If you let me have an E-Mail with what you'd like posting - I am registered.

I'll do my best to be there Tom. But there are some as yet unknowns that affect our annual UK-trip next year. The missus may be changing department in Madrid Town Hall.
