Newbie to the forum and soon-to-be proud owner of a 2008 R3...

    Hey all!

I'm a geek that wrenches on bikes, cars, and planes as a hobby. I even poke holes in the sky on occasion in a 1966 Piper Cherokee and other single-engine birds. My main focus is usually riding and wrenching on old Harleys, but have owned many other brands and now my first Trump (REALLY excited and hopeful). Researched here and other places, and pulled the trigger on a 2008 R3 today. Should pick her up early next week. Riding season will be over here in PA soon, but I'm looking forward to finding out what the previous owner(s) did to her. Some pics are below. So far, I'm seeing that he put Jardine exhaust on, a Power Commander (they showed me the box/parts that he provided when he traded her in), some tall K&N filters, and a backrest and passenger floorboards that my significant other will love. He swapped someone for Roadster footpegs, which I'll replace with stock or something similar - At 6', I like my feet a little more forward.

Anyway, here's a little porn from the showroom floor. If anyone notices anything significant, I'm absolutely new to Triumphs and I'm all ears about learning:

Hello Hobo and welcome from Northern VA. I'm not sure what you mean by when riding season is over; doesn't really makes since unless you live at some high altitude area of the state. From what I hear, we may not ever see snow again.
Looks like a darn nice bike there. Did you get the original bear claw and exhaust with the purchase?

Gday and welcome. Looks good. You may notice a difference between that and the Harleys when you twist that thing on the handlebar.

    Whereabouts in PA are you?

Thanks Boog. I hope you're right about riding season. In the PA mountains sometimes my bikes stay in the garage sometime in October. There's a box of stuff provided, but no original exhaust. I'm assuming the Bear Claw is the left hand cover for the fuel injection, but I didn't see anything like that either unless I missed it. Bike has around 26k miles, so I need to find a maintenance manual and see what things I need to be giving some "attention" to...

Thanks IDK! I'm a little over an hour east of Pitt in Blairsville, PA. On top of a mountain in Pennsyltucky is a better explanation.

One of my previous bikes was a ZZR 1200, so that will likely be the closest I've ever had to compare to the Rocket's speed. Torque, however, is another story. Even the 95" Fatboy that I recently built only makes 102lbs of TQ. LOL!

You may want to consider ear-plugs. Esp if the Jardines have no dB killers in.

    It's tidy that is.
November 2015. For a whole series of reasons - I am retiring from Forum Life. I've been testing my resolve to live without using them - and feel better for it. Yes I will miss the contact I have with folk around the world - but my life is changing - and I am moving on. Certain forum members have my email address and I will see emails - but I will not be returning to the forum and will not attend PM's. Stay well all.

Yes to the bear claw thought. It would not work with those filters at all.

You do have some fun roads in your area, especially when heading east to the Altoona area; I've ridden those hills a few times.
