David, I just saw this post. How terrible. We exchanged a few emails after the Adirondacks ride and resolved to get together again one day. She is such a sweetheart. Tragic.

News update: Al just called tonight and cautiously positive good news. This afternoon, Daria was awake enough to use eye 'signals' one for yes, two for 'no' and she recognizes Al, understands she is in the hospital and ICU, etc. She says she is in terrible pain but mostly the lungs which makes sense given her broken ribs. Al says the doctor thinks he can remove the tube from her throat tomorrow.

Al wants to express his heartfelt thanks for all your prayers and best wishes.He says it means a great deal to him and the family. It's too early for Daria to be aware of your very kind thoughts but hopefully the time will come soon to share them with her. Al says the next major step will be for Daria to be able to leave the hospital and go to a rehab center but the timing for that is still too early to determine.

Thanks again for all your good wishes. The Tribal Fund will surely do something for both Daria and Al at the right time in the future.

Just logged on after being away for awhile for reasons I'll explain in another post, but prayers and healing vibes are being sent from Deb and I. Hang in there Al and Daria, just rest and heal.
